There’s a lot of new changes coming down the pipeline for Volkswagen in 2017, and as a fan of the brand it makes sense to stay on top of what’s coming up. Here’s an overview of what enhancements you’ll see in the Volkswagen lineup, what’s pretty much staying the same and what new releases are going to come out in 2018.

The Golf

The Volkswagen Golf is going to benefit from a bunch of new changes this year, making it worth taking a look at if you’re planning on getting a new compact vehicle. The car will be offered with a Wolfsburg Edition trim. The GTI variation will now come with the Sport trim as well, giving you more power options to choose from. The e-Golf is receiving more power and a range enhancement and the Golf model is going to receive a whole host of updates in 2018 with an improved model.

The Beetle

The Volkswagen Beetle is always one of the more reserved vehicles that don’t receive too many changes in a model year. This year a Pink limited edition Beetle is being added for buyers to consider. There’s also going to be more aggressive bumpers on the 1.8T models of the Beetle.

Volkswagen Tiguan

The Tiguan gets a whole host of changes for the 2017 year of the vehicle. It will now come standard with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine across the whole range of vehicle. There’s a Wolfsburg and Sport trim of the vehicle available now, additional standard features were added to the vehicle and both the R-Line and SE trims were removed entirely.

The Passat

While many VW vehicles are sitting still, the Passat is receiving a host of changes. The R-Line trim is getting more standard features, and both auto braking and forward collision warning are becoming standard throughout the lineup.

The Touareg

The Touareg is a popular SUV sold by Volkswagen and it’s getting some notable changes in 2017. For starters there will no longer be a Lux trim version of the vehicle, and a Wolfsburg trim option has been added. Just like the Passat it’s getting standard auto braking and forward collision warning. The vehicle will also be completely redesigned for the 2018 model year, so keep your eyes opened for that.

Overall this is a year for some notable changes to the Volkswagen lineup, but the 2018 model year is the one with the most dramatic changes on the way. There will be a new model for the Touareg, Tiguan, and the Golf.

The Latest Tiguan: Improved and More Affordable

The latest and greatest Volkswagen Tiguan hasn’t yet arrived in the US, but it looks to be a nice improvement from the previous year’s model. The new version of the Tiguan should come with some added tech features, along with a nice redesign that makes the vehicle look much more modern while out on the road. The changes in appearance alone are enough to consider purchasing this vehicle, but it also offers some new capabilities as well. With so many people interested in picking up SUVs in the United States, the Tiguan is worth taking a look at for sure.

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan

Bigger and More Affordable

The two major improvements to the Tiguan come in terms of size and cost. The Tiguan is expected to be larger than its predecessor by as much as four or five inches overall. Not only that, but it is also expected to cost a bit less money for buyers to obtain. That’s because this generation of the Tiguan is set for production in Mexico rather than Germany. Lower import costs as well as lower transport expenses for the vehicles means that VW can afford to charge less for the 2017 Tiguan than it did for the 2016 version. These changes should help make Volkswagen’s main SUV get even more popular.

The MQB Platform

For the very first time Volkswagen is building the Tiguan on top of the MQB platform. This makes it a bit larger in size, and definitely makes it more resilient overall. The MQB platform has been tested out by other models in the past, and is the result of careful design principles within VW to create a reliable base for cars, trucks and SUVs to be built on top of.

This SUV is going to be about 4 inches longer than its European counterpart, and has the option to include a third row seat for customers looking for even more seating. If you have a large family, or you just like being able to carry additional passengers when the need arises, this additional row will be very helpful for you.

Improved Fuel Economy

While official figures aren’t out yet, the word on the street is that Volkswagen is dialing back power a bit its 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to produce a higher level of fuel efficiency for 2017 Tiguan drivers. That means that you can expect a couple ticks upwards in MPG for this model, enough to make it even more desirable to buyers looking for a balance between capability and efficiency.

The improvements to the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan aren’t limited to what you’ll see listed up above, but that covers many of the major points. More information about the vehicle will be given out as the launch date comes closer. It’s expected to show up in dealerships this fall.

The Volkswagen 2017 Tiguan is More Capable than Ever Before

The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan isn’t for sale yet but there is already plenty of information out there about the latest version of one of Volkswagen’s most popular mid-sized SUVs. It’s a highly capable machine that’s designed to help make travelling and getting stuff done easier. You’ll appreciate the latest space improvements with the vehicle, as well as all the handling enhancements.

It’s Bigger

First let’s take a moment to talk about how much larger the latest Tiguan is. Although Volkswagen isn’t giving out too many specific details, they have said that the newest Tiguan is considerably longer and wider than the outgoing model. That means that anyone that thought the last Tiguan was a bit cramped will be able to enjoy the latest model even more. It has added room for passenger comfort and improved space for additional cargo so that you can bring all your camping gear or groceries around with you with ease.

It can Take on the Elements

Whether you’re driving through snow, ice or you just have to travel down a few dirt roads to reach your destination, the Tiguan is a pretty capable machine thanks to its all-wheel drive system. The 2017 model comes with 4-Motion all-wheel drive. This system is designed to offer most of the drive power at the two front wheels during standard driving conditions. When things become a bit dicey power is directed to each of the four wheels to help balance things out and make sure the Tiguan handles smoothly even when traction isn’t available at each of the four wheels.

Switching up the Driving Modes

There are four different driving modes, Snow, Onroad, Offroad and Offroad Individual. Each of these is designed for a different driving purpose. After getting the Tiguan you’ll find yourself setting the driving mode based on the conditions that you’ll be facing. Switching to Snow right before heading out onto early morning roads in the winter will help you maintain your traction and take things a bit more cautiously. The handling and responsiveness of the Tiguan adjusts depending on the drive mode that’s selected, to help drivers operate the vehicle in the best way possible no matter what the conditions are.

Load and Unload with Ease

You don’t get an SUV without wanting to load and unload large items in the cargo area at least once and awhile. That’s why Tiguan owners will appreciate the larger and rear of the Tiguan. It’s now closer to the ground and the rear opening of the vehicle is considerably larger in size so that you can squeeze in even larger items easily. Not only that, but the rear seat slides forward up to seven inches, allowing you to squeeze a bit more rear space out of the 2017 Tiguan.

The latest Tiguan is a highly capable machine that’s designed for versatility and if you upgrade to it from the latest model you’ll realize that you can do more with it than you could previously, and that’s what owning an SUV is all about.
