Audi has long been known as a luxury car manufacturer, but the Q7 makes a strong case for the company’s SUV division. It’s a supreme mix of power, style and comfort and the latest Q7 is arguably one of the best offerings by Audi today. Enough buildup though, let’s get into what makes the SUV special and what helps it stand out above other SUVs on the market, and believe me, there’s quite a bit to like about this smooth rolling crossover.

Smooth Powerful Performance

The SUV features a V6 that packs a total of 325 HP. It’s not the most overpowered engine that we’ve seen in an SUV, but it makes takeoff feel smooth and quick. The large SUV seems to absorb bumps as you go over them, and the ergonomically sculpted seats help with that effort even more while providing a supremely comfortable surface to sit on while riding around. The seats are cooled and heated, and they’re comfortable in all different climate types.

Paddle Shifting Precision

With the high quality automatic transmissions on the market today, most people are content letting their vehicles handle gear changes for them, but there’s something enjoyable about being able to do the job yourself, and with the Q7 you can have either or. It’s equipped with a set of paddle shifters that allow you to shift between the eight different gears as you see fit. This is especially helpful for hill driving where you can take advantage of low gears to cut down on braking. There’s also a standard drive and super drive setting, allowing you to be more efficient out on the highway.

Excellent Interior Space

The inside of the Q7 is massive with ample leg room for people in the first and second row of the vehicle. There’s seating for 7, with the third row being a bit more cramped. Not only is there plenty of seating space, but there’s ample cargo room at the back of the SUV for all your gear, groceries or whatever it is that you need to haul around.

Excellent Safety and Driving Aids

While driving the 2017 Q7 you’ll notice that there’s a speed guideline posted near the speedometer. The SUV can actually pick up the different speed limits as you drive around, letting you know exactly how fast you should be driving at all times without actually tampering in what you’re doing. The SUV also comes with advanced safety features, like collision braking to help you avoid crashing into objects in front of you.

The Audi Q7 was released right after the Denver Auto Show, and it shows a lot of promise. It’s refined, it looks nice, offers plenty of interior seating and is equipped with all the safety features that you could want out of a vehicle.

Should You Get the Four or Six Cylinder 2017 Q7?

When Audi announced the 2017 Q7 it made a pretty surprising remark about the engine options that would be available with it. Not only would the turbo V6 be available to interested buyers, but the company also stated there would be a turbo four engine as well. That’s pretty surprising considering that the Q7 is about 5,000 lbs. in weight overall, which is a whole lot of weight to pull with such a small engine. The new engine offering is designed to appeal to buyers looking to save some money though, and it does offer significant savings to buyers.

A More Affordable Q7

One of the biggest benefits of moving form the V6 engine to a four-cylinder model is all the money it saved vehicle buyers. By switching to a turbocharged engine instead, Audi was able to offer similar performance figures while shaving off nearly $6,000 from the price of the Q7, with a reduction of $5,800 it’s hard not to be excited about the change that Audi made to its latest SUV.

A Loss of Power for Cost Savings

While switching to a turbo four over the supercharged V6 that’s come standard in the Q7 is a good way to cut your costs, it will also shave off power from the vehicle. You’ll go from 333 HP and 325 lb.-ft. of torque with the V6 to about 252 HP and 273 lb.-ft. of torque with the turbo four. That’s a pretty serious decrease in power, which you’ll undoubtedly notice while driving around. That means that Q7 buyers have to choose between saving money, or losing out on power. It’s important to note that the two engine options offer similar fuel efficiency levels, so that’s not even a consideration when trying to decide between the two available options.

Enjoy the Same Luxury Either Way

No matter if you want the larger engine, or the turbo four, you’ll still enjoy that same Audi luxury that you would expect when picking up a luxury SUV. The interior is adorned with buttery leather, the media system is top notch, the seats are supremely comfortable and the interior decor is impressive. You’ll have a hard time pulling yourself out of this SUV no matter which version you get, one is just more enjoyable to drive around than the other.

Driving enthusiasts looking for a bit more oomph will want to go ahead and pay more for the larger six cylinder engine, while those looking to get into a luxury SUV at the lowest price point they can, should take a good hard look at the turbo four. Both options will drive you around capably, one just has more pickup and life than the other.

Audi’s 3.0L TFSI Supercharged V6 Makes Ward’s 10 Best Engines List For 2012!

The engineers at Audi can proudly celebrate another accomplishment, as their supercharged 3.0L TFSI V6 engine made the cut for the prestigious Ward’s Auto 10 Best Engines list of 2012. This marks the third consecutive year that the engine has made the Ward’s 10 Best list. For 18 years, Ward’s Auto has been recognizing standout engines that are in the price range of most consumers, offer sufficient power, boast a great exhaust note, and integrates well with the vehicle the engine is featured in.

The supercharged V6 can be found in both the Audi A6 sedan and the striking A7 four-door coupe. Consumers can also find the award-winning engine in the Q7 full-sized SUV, and the athletic S4 and S5 models.

From a sheer power standpoint, the all-aluminum engine is good for a wholesome 310 horsepower and a substantial 325 lb-ft of torque, which peaks between 2,900 and 4,500 rpm. That’s nearly the kind of power found in a modern V8 engine, but because of its compact size, the TFSI supercharged 3.0L V6 is more efficient than an example with two more cylinders, and boasts a fuel economy rating of 19 mpg in the city 28 mpg on the highway (in the A6). And with Audi’s buttery Tiptronic transmission, you can listen to the engine’s fantastic exhaust note through eight smile-inducing gears.

HERNDON, Va., July 16, 2010 – The only two sport-utility vehicles Audi offers – the Audi Q5 and the Audi Q7 – earned top rankings in their luxury Crossover / SUV categories in the newly released J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.

Audi was one of only six brands surveyed that received at least two individual vehicle APEAL awards.

According to J.D. Power and Associates, the APEAL Study examines how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive, based on owner evaluations of more than 80 vehicle attributes. The 2010 APEAL Study is based on responses gathered between February and May 2010 from more than 76,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2010 model-year cars and trucks who were surveyed after the first 90 days of ownership.

“These latest J.D. Power and Associates study results demonstrate what our customers have been telling us for years,” said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America. “Audi vehicles are thrilling to drive and captivate the consumer whenever they enter one. Our company’s exceptional growth in recent years is a testament to the quality experience our products provide.”

The Audi Q5 combines the dynamism of a sports sedan with an impressively versatile interior and a wide range of practical features for leisure and family use. Powerful, efficient engines, quattro permanent all-wheel drive and an agile suspension layout form an impressive technological package for on-road and off-road use. Highlights such as the innovative S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the driving dynamics system Audi drive select are the evidence of the Audi commitment to progressive innovation. The sportiest SUV in its class, it is dynamic, multifunctional and comfortable.

The Audi Q7 is the luxury SUV for sporty individualists, for people who are seeking a vehicle that will take them anywhere they want to go for sports, recreation, and business. It is available with a gasoline engine and the popular Audi TDI ® clean diesel engine. With a standard third row on all models, the Q7 can accommodate up to seven passengers.

Audi ranked 6th overall in the study. J.D. Power and Associates said that historically, vehicle models achieving high APEAL scores have generated faster sales, higher profit margins, and less need for cash incentives. High levels of vehicle appeal also have a strong influence on customer recommendation rates.
