Audi Celebrates Grand Opening of Audi Pacific First LEED Certified Dealership that Features Largest Audi Showroom in U.S.
LAcarGUY’s new dealership in Torrance, CA will be among the greenest; features the largest Audi showroom in the U.S. showcasing 17 models
Audi of America, in coordination with LAcarGUY, will celebrate the grand opening of the newly redesigned Audi Pacific dealership on Tuesday, November 27. The new dealership will become the largest Audi showroom in the U.S. showcasing 17 models and is the first to be LEED Gold certified incorporating a state-of-the-art design with environmental technology aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing water usage, as well as promoting the reuse and recycling of materials and waste. The new location marks one of 11 dealerships within the LAcarGUY family, headed by Mike Sullivan.
“Audi remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing green technology and environmentally responsible business practices,” said Mike Cagle, Director, Western Region for Audi of America. “Through the opening of Audi Pacific, we not only celebrate the largest Audi showroom in the United States, but also take great pride in achieving LEED Gold certification.”
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized green building certification process promoted by the U.S. Green Building Council to assess the sustainability of a building’s design, construction and operations. To meet LEED Gold certification, the Audi Pacific dealership features energy efficient water fixtures, low energy use lighting and a 45 kilowatt (kW) DC Solar PV system.
The owner of Audi Pacific and President of LAcarGUY, Mike Sullivan has been in the car business for over 45 years and also serves on the board of Heal The Bay and the Environmental Media Association as well as the Regional Board of Directors for Global Green USA. Having owned this Audi franchise since October of 1999, Sullivan became the first to build an Audi Hangar in California. To continue his encouragment in the adoption of electric vehicles, LAcarGUY recently became the first automotive dealer in the country to offer electric charging stations open to the public at four of its dealerships.
“The LAcarGUY family of dealerships has long been committed to promoting sustainable, greener business operations and supporting environmental initiatives,” said Sullivan. “Our new Audi Pacific dealership facility exemplifies our leadership and focus on ecology, economy and social responsibility across the board.”
General Manager and LAcarGUY business partner Jeff LaPlant will oversee the newly redesigned space which has expanded from 14,000 to 45,000 square feet allowing the dealership to better serve their customers with the expanded capacity and convenience within a compelling environment. The new dealership also follows the new Audi “terminal” design, an ecologically advanced construction method promoted by the Audi’s parent company in Germany. The structure makes an impressive architectural statement on Hawthorne Boulevard, with bold signage and an open two-story showroom, as well as 22 service bays showcasing the brand’s latest collection of luxury vehicles.
“Audi Pacific is very proud to be the first LEED Gold certified dealership for the Audi brand,” said LaPlant. “Environmental stewardship is very much in line with Audi Pacific’s overall business philosophy, commitment to exceptional and award-winning customer service, as well as focus on selling some of the most innovative, quality-engineered luxury products on the market today.”
Audi of America maintains a regional office, two technical facilities and a design center in California to better identify with and service the state’s strategically vital and diverse market. Since 2011, sales in the area have increased by 21.9% and represent 19.2% of total U.S. sales. Other noteworthy accomplishments for Audi in California include an increase in IHG market share from 5.56% in 2006 to 10.1% in 2012, effectively doubling the brand’s presence in the state. The Audi Pacific dealership opening marks the brand’s continued expansion and strong presence in the Southern California market.

Fisker Santa Monica Hosts Karma Owners
Nearly 50 Southern California-area Fisker Karma owners drove their cars to Santa Monica Sunday to share their excitement and appreciation for the award winning Electric Vehicle with extended range (EVer).
Hosted by Fisker Santa Monica, 48 of the very first Karma owners were treated to brunch and open conversation with Executive Chairman Henrik Fisker at the exclusive Jonathan Club Beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Fisker executives Tony Posawatz, CEO, and Alex Klatt, Vice President of Global Design, also attended.
Brunch was followed by a scenic drive on the Pacific Coast Highway and through town to the showroom on Santa Monica Boulevard, where owners were treated to a close up look at a design prototype of Fisker Automotive’s next car, the Fisker Atlantic.
With more than 100 Karmas sold in less than 10 months, Fisker Santa Monica is one of the highest volume Fisker retailers in the world. Fisker’s global network of more than 70 retailers has sold more than 1,500 Karmas since the car went on sale in December 2011.
“I can’t tell you how thrilling it is to see how excited Karma owners get about their cars and the future of this company,” Henrik Fisker said. “I’ve been in the business a long time and truly have never seen anything like it. It was fantastic to watch all those Karmas make their way through town, knowing they weren’t using a drop of gas.”
Fisker Santa Monica principal Mike Sullivan said, “It was so great for me to show my appreciation for Fisker owners who understand you don’t have to compromise to drive more responsibly. Driving down San Vicente Blvd in a parade of 48 Fiskers in all-electric Stealth mode showed everyone a great example of the automotive future that we are hoping to build together.”
LAcarGUY Sponsoring The 22nd Annual EMA Awards
Since 1991, the Environmental Media Association Awards has been the only program solely devoted to celebrating the entertainment industry’s environmental efforts. A pioneer in linking the power of celebrity to environmental awareness, it was EMA who invented the ‘green carpet,’ launching the concept of taking a hybrid or alternative fuel vehicle – not a limo – to our annual Awards show.As an organization that is deeply involved in environmental issues LAcarGUY is proud to once again sponsor this great event which highlights the great works that members of television, music, production, and business do to change and influence the message about the environment.
LAcarGUY has for the last several years provided Hybrid cars for people to arrive on the “Green Carpet” and will do so once again this year. As LAcarGUY is the largest Hybrid dealer in the United States
The 22nd Annual EMA Awards will take place Saturday September 29th and you will be able to watch the event live on the EMA’s website, or their Facebook page, Facebook.com/EMAOnline.

Global Green Millennium Awards Tribute to Mike Sullivan
16th Annual Global Green USA Millennium Awards pays tribute to Mike Sullivan.
Global Green’s Millennium Awards Honors Mike Sullivan for Community Environmental Leadership
Global Green’s 16th Annual Millennium Awards were presented on Saturday, June 2nd 2012 at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica. Each year, these awards recognize a number of honorees who embody the Global Green mission of “fostering a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure world.” The Awards were established in 1996 to herald individuals and organizations who recognize the important connection between humankind and nature, to celebrate their success and inspire others to make such exceptional behavior the norm.
This year, Mike Sullivan of LAcarGUY was recognized for his personal commitment to supporting many important local environmental organizations and for actively promoting community projects, from cleaning beaches to creating school gardens. Mike was also thanked for providing hybrid vehicles to transport celebrities to the Oscars during Global Green’s Red Carpet-Green Cars campaign.
The LAcarGUY brand was recognized as a leader in the Los Angeles automotive industry since 1964, along with the 11 award-winning dealerships and two state-of-the-art body shops. Mike and LAcarGUY sell more hybrids and clean diesel cars than any other dealership group in America and also showcase energy- and resource-conserving in-dealership practices, including a new Audi LEED-certified dealership.
Special mention was given to the LAcarGUY Green Team that represents the company’s commitment to advancing sustainability by encouraging, inspiring, and educating 800+ employees about reducing their carbon footprint–individual and corporate.
Mike Sullivan was awarded the Community Environmental Leadership Award which honors individuals or organizations that have cultivated and led communities to create extraordinary collective environmental achievements.
LAcarGUY Celebrates 12 Years Of Supporting The Los Angeles Lakers Celebrity Golf Invitational

The Lakers Youth Foundation raises money to provide educational, athletic and recreational opportunities for Los Angeles area youth.
During the event, there was an auction held to raise additional money, and a bidding war developed between Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant and LAcarGUY’s Mike Sullivan for 25% ownership in a race horse!
The race horse started off with a few bids from fans, but then Kobe Bryant started bidding. Then Pau Gasol started bidding and it went all the way up to $8,000 for 25% ownership of the horse, which of course was made by the winner, Kobe Bryant. After the horse was awarded to the Kobe, Pau Gasol and Mike Sullivan approached Kobe and still wanted to get in on the horse, so they put up another $8,000 for ownership of the horse!
Mike Sullivan To Be Awarded With Community Environmental Leadership Award From Global Green USA

When Global Green needed hybrid cars for their Red Carpet – Green Car campaign (i.e., taking stars to the Oscars in fuel efficient cars), Mike provided them.
LAcarGUY not only sell more hybrids and clean diesel cars than any other dealership group in America, we also showcase energy and resource conserving practices in its dealerships — including the new Audi LEED certified dealership. The LA Green Team represents the company’s commitment to advancing sustainability by encouraging, inspiring and educating its 800+ employees about reducing their individual and corporate carbon footprint, as well as selling more hybrids and clean diesel cars than any other dealership group in the United States.

LAcarGUY Breaks Ground for Expanded, LEED®-Certified Pacific Audi Dealership
LAcarGUY‘s Mike Sullivan, and Audi of America, this past week celebrated the official groundbreaking of the newly introduced Audi terminal in Torrance, CA. The state-of-the-art South Bay dealership will expand capacity from its current nearby location of 14,000 sq. ft., becoming the largest Audi Terminal showroom in the U.S. at 45,000 sq. ft. The expansion not only invests in the community as a business partner, but also as a community partner, with plans to be built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards.

We’re so excited to be building this. Everything we’re doing [here] is designed around sustainability and making it a very friendly place to be,” states LAcarGUY’s Sullivan. “What we are doing on this property just mirrors where the franchise is going, where the brand is going, and where we are going. It’s just a great marriage and we’re proud to be part of it.”
Located on a 3-acre parcel at the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and Spencer Street, the new space is being designed to better serve customers with expanded capacity and convenience within a compelling environment. The structure will make an impressive but welcoming architectural statement in the area with strong use of trees, special lighting, and a well-scaled, open two-story, 17-car showroom, showcasing the brand’s latest collection of luxury vehicles.
Having owned this Audi franchise since October of 1999, Sullivan built the first Audi Hangar-style dealership in California. The progressive nature of the Sullivan organization is a driving force behind the facility being built to meet LEED® standards (created by the U.S. Green Building Council). Highlights of the upcoming LEED® building include LED lighting, inside and out; high-efficiency heating and air components; “smog eating”-finished ACM panels; and atypical landscaping for a dealership. Regular blog posts at pacificaudi.com/leeddealership will soon begin to share the story of the green building’s progress until the scheduled November 2012 opening.
Adds Sullivan, “Our little family of dealerships is continuing to grow and we’re excited… We’re trying to stay ahead of the curve with this beautiful new LEED® certified building here in Torrance, so we’re really pleased.”
Pacific Porsche Receives Premier Dealer Status
What does it mean to be recognized by Porsche North America as a Premier Porsche Dealer? It signifies that Pacific Porsche is one the top 25 dealerships in North America, encompassing performance among peers, product representation, and the development of key Porsche business drivers.

This is no trivial achievement as 175+ Porsche dealers did not make the list including most of the largest dealers in the country, and one of only 2 in California to be so recognized. This came as a result of some very hard work on the part of all of the Porsche employees and management and the commitment of Mike Sullivan to provide Pacific Porsche with all of the tools (and a “small” remodel) necessary to reach the top.
The entire LAcarGUY family of dealers would like to recognize and acknowledge the hard work and dedication it took from everyone at Pacific Porsche to achieve this elite status.
